This is the very first step when deciding to build a custom home! You will need to determine what finishes you want. Everything from the countertops, flooring, doors, paint, etc. so that you can establish a rough estimate of price/sq.ft to determine the size of custom home that you can build.

Plans & Design (Soft Costs)

Once you have a budget established it’s time to have your custom home designed and plans drawn. The cost to do this in Rancho Santa Fe is typically 3%-5% of the overall cost to build the home. It is important to remember that the costs will vary depending on if you hire an architect or a draftsman.

Permits & Fees (Soft Costs)

Don’t forget to account for permits & fees as well when determining a budget for your custom home!
